Collection I by theflower iris

.

theflower iris is a made-to-order clothing and jewellery slow fashion brand. Founded in 2015 by creator ofufeh, is has grown to be an eclectic amalgamation of a myriad aesthetics.

Collection I

Whilst staying to a predominantly dark yet neutral colour palette, the first collection of theflower iris still explores the world of colours by the way of "pops of colour".

Debuting with 5 main clothing pieces

and a handful of jewelry and accessories, the debuting first collection will set the tone for those to come.
The ethos of Collection I is to create not so conventional everyday pieces.
Anri
The first in the lineup of the collection. A drawstring closure A-line silhouette dress. With 5 meters of fabric involved in the construction of the dress, Anri is an all around hefty piece in both feel and mood.

Xen
Our little Xen skirt is a knife pleated hand beaded wrap skirt. Taking anywhere from 3-8 hours to complete, it the second piece in the lineup. Weighted as a result of the glass and natural beads, it sparkles like sunlight dancing on water on water.
Koi
A knife pleated, two tiered wrap skirt made in the spirit and charm of koi fishes. A design platform to play with different colour, texture, and fabric combinations. Mini but a world of personality.
Pond
A continuation of the Koi skirt, Pond describes the same but differs in its midi cut. Somewhat the big sister of Koi, its longer length makes it perfect to dress up for more formal occasions.
lol... or not :)
Tulia
A different variation of Xen and Koi, Tulia is a knife pleated wrap top. Made and intentionally left with long straps, it is visually reminiscent of the jellyfish. A top made for summer but easily layers for a colder weather.

In Construction: iris <3 Simplicity.

There is simplicity and versatility in the clothing of iris. Largely influenced by the way the ancient Greeks made their clothing: flowing, easily manipulated, free.
"Clothes were uncut, unsewn, pieces of cloths which were arranged on a person in different ways to produce different effects. The primary garments were simply squares, cylinders, or rectangles, which were wrapped and draped on a person and then fastened with pins, buttons, or broaches to hold them in place.
The ease of manipulating the clothes into a garment, which could then be arranged in different styles, meant one could use a single piece of fabric multiple times to create different outfits. Adding or taking away from the garment through additional clothing, different jewelry, and other accessories, created easy to wear, comfortable, clothing." - Joshua
Putting It into Practice
Being heavily inspired by their way of garment construction, elevating and modernizing, iris pieces are made with the same ease.
Starting off as a simple knife pleated wrap skirt,
  • Xen adds beads
  • Koi strips away the beads and takes Xen from a one-tier skirt to a two-tier skirt
  • Pond is exactly the same as Koi. However, differently from Koi, Pond takes Koi from a mini skirt to a midi skirt
  • Adding just 4 straps to it takes Xen or Koi from a skirt to a Tulia top.
Collection I introduces the design methods of iris. Nothing is too complicated but everything is built upon. While the construction of the garments is simple, the
silhouettes, visually, come from the absolutely dramatic.

Collection Mood

At its calmest, it is a barefoot walk through a feild of wildflowers or a moonlit beach. The romance the moon light hitting the dancing on the water and the soft, warm breeze against your skin.
.
At its wildest, it is the bustle of the night city. The soundtrack of voices and music and traffic combined together.
The Playlist
.

In the middle, a slower day spent running errands around the town or at home watering your plants.

Contrary to popular advise, iris does not have a specific occasion or location. It is not meant to create a new world for you, it is here to join your world. There is no one type of style that iris solely caters too. It is truly a collage made up of the fashionable possibilities it holds.
